Nora Roberts has joined Stieg Larsson and James Patterson in the Kindle Million Club - selling over one million e-books on Amazon's Kindle.

Romance novel writer and best-selling author, Roberts, and J.D. Robb, the pseudonym under which she writes her suspense/thriller novels, has officially sold 1,170,539 million copies on Kindle according to Amazon. By the time this article is read, she will have sold many more.

Amazon's Kindle e-reader is Selling More e-books Than Hardcovers

The giant retailer Amazon has confirmed that their Kindle e-books outsell hardcovers online. It expects Kindle e-books will outsell paperback sales by the end of 2012. It will be some time however before the sale of Nora Roberts' e-books on Kindle outpace her total print sales of over 280 million copies worldwide. The author's books are translated in 35 countries.

James Patterson and Stieg Larsson and Nora Roberts are the Kindle Million Club

Three authors now make up the Kindle Million Club. Russ Grandinetti, vice-president of Kindle, is quoted as saying "Nora Roberts has been a bestseller at Amazon for 15 years so this accomplishment is no surprise." The late Stieg Larsson was the first author to sell over a million copies on Kindle with his Millennium Trilogy starring the fictional character, Lizbeth Salander. James Patterson, with over 65 novels, was the second to join the group. Grandinetti continues, "We're happy to welcome Nora Roberts to the Kindle Million Club."

Nora Roberts is the Raymond Carver of Romance

A recent article, "Real Romance: How Nora Roberts Became America's Most Popular Novelist" in The New Yorker describes Roberts as 'the Raymond Carver of romance' with her characters more likely to drink beer on the porch than a Daiquiri poolside. She is quoted as saying,"Character is plot. Make them accessible to the reader." While some reviewers, especially reviewers of literary novels, would call Roberts writing a bit of fluff her work ethic is anything but. She writes eight hours a day. "Daylight hours," she writes on her website, "are working hours."

Kindle is the Best Selling Product on Amazon

The third-generation Kindle has broken records as being the best selling product in Amazon's short history. Stieg Larsoon's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was the most purchased and the most gifted Kindle book on Christmas day, according to Amazon.com 2010 Holiday Facts. Other Kindle top best sellers were "The Confession: A Novel" by John Grisham; "Decision Points" by George Bush; and "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand.

Over 200 Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb Books in Publication

J.D. Robb and the alias Nora Roberts have published more than 200 novels worldwide. Roberts' website states that every minute 27 copies of her books are sold. Among her books are "The Search," "Northern Lights" and The Garden Trilogy. She has won several awards including the Golden Medallion Award, RITA Award, and a Quill Award. She was listed as One of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in 2007 and was the first writer to be inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame.
